PREDATOR - Accommodation
Predator 21
The cabin bunks are 2.5 metres long and by using an infill an enormous bed 2.5 metres long, 2 metres wide at the head and 700mm wide at the feet is
available. The cockpit is
2 metres wide by 2.5 metres long and with the infills provided 4 adults can comfortably sleep here. The cockpit floor is 950mm wide
by 2.5 metres long and is therefore another possible sleeping space. There really is
no other boat of this size with this amount of room !!
Note the infill rails for converting
into a kingsize bunk.

There is a very large dry storage
compartment under the bunks
and another storage
compartment under the very
comfortable seat.

The centreboard control lines
pass through the stainless steel
compression post and up onto
the cabin roof.

A hatch in the cabin roof ventilates
the cabin and allows access to
the foredeck, anchor well,
forestay, jib, etc.
The cockpit is truly enormous and comparable to many 40 footers. It is very "child friendly" with high sides and vitually rope free. The mainsheet attaches
to the targa bar and the jib sheets and centreboard control lines are located on the cabin roof. A mainsheet traveller slamming across the middle of the
cockpit is easy for the designer but not good for fingers, hands, feet or anything else in the way !!
Many options are available as a "soft" cabin : a custom made boom tent as above; a cheap woven polypropylene ground sheet/tarpaulin; or a purpose made
folding bimini as below. Note the kayaks on the trampolines and the external porta loo. The
Predators are designed to be adaptable.

Using infills to bridge the cockpit space between the seats makes a large sleeping platform for either a double bed under a boom tent or for erecting a
2 person dome
tent.  The trampolines are 2 metres long and also make for very comfortable beds.
There is ample dry storage under the fore and aft hatches, sufficient for a tent, sleeping bags, spare clothes, food, fishing equipment, etc. The
cockpit is large enough that a couple of
ice boxes on the floor don't get in the way.
Cheap groundsheets/tarpaulins always come in handy.
